Juju Lily est un duo de DJ domicilié à Lisbonne depuis un peu moins d’un an. Ils ont joué partout dans la capitale portugaise. Damas, au 49ZDB, au Musicbox, au Lounge et même dans les soirées Ela et Bloop!
Ce soir, ils vous invitent tous à passer au Juicy Lisboa pour une soirée «Juju Lily and Friends Até Jazz» afin de dire un petit « xauzinho ». Les deux inséparables partent pour 6 mois en Bretagne afin de concrétiser leur futur projet…
«Pour l’instant on préfère ne pas trop en parler», confie Sandro. «On part pour mieux revenir» ajoute Silvio. Oui, c’est toujours comme ça avec eux, l’un commence une phrase, l’autre la complète. Ils sont un peu les Dupont et Dupond. Un vrai couple inséparable.
C’est simple ils font tout ensemble, ils mixent ensemble, vivent ensemble, dorment ensemble. «Oui, oui, on dort ensemble dans le même lit». «Et on partage tout. On a un téléphone pour deux, un ordinateur portable pour deux, vraiment tout…». Un vrai couple, voire même pire qu’un couple à ce stade, des siamois?
Leur histoire d’amour, d’amitié, a débuté il y a deux ans. Ils se sont rencontrés à la radio associative de Nantes, Radio Plum. Silvio était chroniqueur et mixait à la radio quand un jour Sandro est venu mixer à son émission.
«Non mais attends, on s’était rencontré avant aussi…» coupe Sandro. «Ouais mais réellement ça a commencé grâce à Lily», rectifie Silvio. Un vrai couple.
Mais qui est Lily? Cela aurait pu être une femme, mais non, Lily est le titre d’une chanson de Manu Dibango, un artiste camerounais qu’ils affectionnent tout particulièrement. Sandro a mixé ce vinyle que Silvio a reconnu tout de suite. Normal, il a le même. La mayonnaise entre les deux amoureux de la musique commence à prendre.
«Manu Dibango n’est pas qu’un simple artiste, c’est un être humain engagé, au-delà de sa musique, c’est tout un univers qu’il véhicule, si tu aimes Manu Dibango alors tu as des valeurs de partage, c’est pour ça qu’on s’est tout de suite reconnu» racontent-ils à l’unisson.

Printemps 2016, Silvio quitte Nantes pour s’installer à Lisbonne. Objectif: prendre le pouls de la ville afin d’y ouvrir une crêperie ou un café. Breton oblige.
Sandro est resté à Nantes, car lui, voulait ouvrir…un café. Coïncidence?
Finalement la musique les rattrape. Silvio a l’opportunité de mixer au 49 ZDB. Ni une, ni deux, il appelle Sandro qui le rejoint pour «une soirée de feu. C’était la première fois qu’on mixait ensemble».
Ce week-end à Lisbonne a été décisif pour les deux acolytes. C’est décidé, ils fusionnent et unissent leurs forces et énergies pour servir un projet commun.
Avril 2017, Silvio retourne dans sa Bretagne natale afin d’y apprendre le métier de crêpier. Sandro prend la relève et s’installe à son tour à Lisbonne pour se faire sa propre expérience.
Au mois de juin il sort un EP, «Message d’EP» avec le label parisien Rose et Rosé. En flânant chez le fameux disquaire lisboète, Carpet & Snares, tenu par Jorge Caiado, Sandro s’aperçoit que son propre EP est en vente dans cette boutique.
La bonne étoile est de nouveau présente et cette fois-ci c’est au tour de Silvio d’avoir sa première expérience de DJ à Lisbonne. Jorge l’invite à mixer à l’ Europa (club situé sur la célèbre rue Pink Street).
De là, tout s’enchaîne. Sandro mixe dans plusieurs endroits de Lisbonne et dans des grands événements underground et bien connus de la vie nocturne de Lisbonne.
Octobre 2017, c’est la naissance de Juju Lily. Et oui, Silvio est de retour, et le duo est plus soudé que jamais. Ils enflamment tous les dancefloors de la capitale, jusqu’à aller mixer à Paris au Mellotron (dans le 10ème).
Juju Lily ça vient d’où? «Juju ça veut dire sorcellerie, en Nigérian. On est tous attiré par tout ce qui est diabolisé, c’est notre côté mystique» rigole Sandro. Et Lily? «Bah Lily c’est la chanson de Manu Dibango», répond Silvio.
Les deux garçons, malgré leurs différences physiques, l’un châtain, l’autre brun, l’un avec une moustache, l’autre avec une barbe, l’un blanc, l’autre le teint halé, et bien tout le monde les confond. Enfin, au début. Car ils se confondent et se fondent l’un dans l’autre, se complètent et s’enrichissent l’u et l’autre.
«On est un peu comme le Rock’n Roll et le Rap, deux styles différents, mais la même vision. Comme la rencontre entre Run DMC et Aérosmith» image Sandro.
Un duo explosif donc. Et parfois ça pète? Comme dans tout couple qui se respecte. «Non, car on parle toujours de tout avant que ça éclate. On est en perpétuel réflexion sur nous-mêmes, on se remet en question et on apprend à mettre notre égo de côté» explique avec sagesse Silvio.
Et comme des chiens ne font pas des chats, pour tous les deux, leurs influences viennent directement de leurs propres parents.
De la part de sa maman pour Sandro. «Quand j’ai eu mon premier walkman, j’avais trois cassettes que j’écoutais en boucle, comme un autiste: MC Solar, Jamiroquai et Jazzmatazz Vol.1. À l’âge de 6 ans, ma maman m’a emmené voir Jamiroquai en concert. Elle a même ramené mes grands frères voir NTM à l’âge de 15 ans». En effet, ça c’est une maman suprême.

Silvio, c’est son papa. Lui même artiste complet (peintre, plasticien, musicien), il est originaire de Bolivie, a vécu en Espagne avant de rencontrer la maman de Silvio et partir en Bretagne vivre de sa passion. Alors Silvio a grandi en écoutant tout type de musique.

Il affectionne tout particulièrement David Mancuso, «un DJ noble et humble, il dit une phrase que j’adore «Je fais partie d’une vibration» c’est-à-dire que ce qui est important dans le dancefloor c’est l’ensemble, la qualité sonore et le partage».

Et ce qui est génial entre eux, c’est qu’ils sont constamment entrain de se nourrir musicalement mais aussi humainement. Il suffit juste de les voir discuter, l’un commence une phrase, l’autre la termine. Et derrière les platines, le rythme est le même, la danse de leurs échanges est harmonieuse.

Their story of love, friendship, began two years ago. They met on the associative radio of Nantes (in France), Radio Plum. Silvio was a columnist and mixed on the radio when one day Sandro came to mix on his show.

But who is Lily? It could have been a woman, but no, Lily is the title of a song by Manu Dibango, a Cameroonian artist they are particularly fond of. Sandro mixed this vinyl that Silvio recognized right away. Normal, he has the same. The mayonnaise between the two lovers of music begins to take.

Spring 2016, Silvio leaves Nantes to settle in Lisbon. Objective: take the pulse of the city to open a « creperie » or a coffee place. Breton what else?

Finally the music catches them. Silvio has the opportunity to mix at 49 ZDB. Neither one nor two, he calls Sandro who joins him for « an evening of fire. It was the first time we mixed together.
This weekend in Lisbon was decisive for the two acolytes. It’s decided, they merge and join forces and energies to serve a common project.
April 2017, Silvio returns to his native Brittany to learn the job of crepe maker. Sandro takes over and settles in Lisbon to make his own experience.
In the month of June he released an EP, « Message d’EP » with the Parisian label Rose and Rosé. While strolling at the famous Lisboet record store, Carpet & Snares, held by Jorge Caiado, Sandro realizes that his own EP is on sale in this shop.
The lucky star is again present and this time it is the turn of Silvio to have his first DJ experience in Lisbon. Jorge invites him to mix at the Europa (club located on the famous Pink Street).
From there, everything is linked. Sandro mixes in several places of Lisbon and in big underground and well known events of the Lisbon nightlife.
October 2017 is the birth of Juju Lily. And yes, Silvio is back, and the duo is closer than ever. They ignite all the dancefloors of the capital, until mixing in Paris at Mellotron (in the 10th).
Juju Lily, where does it come from? « Juju means witchcraft, in Nigerian. We are all attracted by everything that is demonized, it is our mystical side « laughs Sandro. And Lily? « Bah Lily is Manu Dibango’s song, » answers Silvio.
The two boys, despite their physical differences, one brown, the other brown, one with a mustache, the other with a beard, one white, the other with a tan, and well everyone confuses them. Finally, at the beginning. Because they merge and merge into one another, complement each other and enrich one another.
« We’re a bit like Rock’n Roll and Rap, two different styles, but the same vision. Like the meeting between DMC Run and Aerosmith » said Sandro.

At the age of 6, my mom took me to see Jamiroquai in concert. She even brought my older brothers back to see NTM at the age of 15. » Indeed, it’s a supreme mom.
